Our Team Concept
Our concept is based solely on top play, meaning that we will only be targeting the balls on the top of the table for scoring. To score, we have three main techniques that work together. The first, is our cage area.
As you can see in the picture, our cage area is in the shape of a pentagon (a baseball diamond). The cage has a maximum holding capacity of 34 balls, and the shape allows for ball movement control by forcing them to migrate to a central area at the tip of shape. Rods located on the inside of the cage have been experimentally proven to be the best way to push the balls about the table. Our second technique is the front wall of the cage, which moves up and down on pivots located at both sides of the bot base, and is lifted by a winch mechanism. After lifting the front wall, we will drive the bot over the targeted balls so that they our within our cage area. When the wall is lowered, the balls will then be captured with our cage. Our final technique is the open cage bottom. Once the balls are captured and secured, we will simply drive the bot over the scoring hole and let gravity pull the balls down the funnel.
